Problem

“We Care,” a domiciliary care provider in the UK, was heavily reliant on a traditional, paperwork-centric process. Their method involved dispatching staff with daily schedules printed on paper, which the staff then filled out during their visits. After completing their tasks, these papers were returned to the office for review. This system not only was inefficient but also lacked transparency, making it challenging to get real-time insights into day-to-day operations.

Solution

To streamline and modernize their operations, we designed a robust mobile app complemented by a web-based platform. Appointments between patients and staff or nurses were scheduled using the web platform. The nurse, armed with the mobile app, could then mark their arrival at a patient’s home, with the app tracking their location. Throughout their visit, the nurse could update tasks completed, add alerts or updates, and finally mark their departure, all through the app, ensuring real-time data capture and transmission.

This digitized approach brought significant savings for “We Care,” particularly in printing costs. With nearly 600 appointments scheduled weekly, the financial impact of eliminating daily print schedules was substantial. Moreover, the platform gave the company’s leadership real-time visibility into their operations, enabling more informed decision-making and fostering a more transparent, efficient workflow.
